Division 2 - Fine Arts

Welcome to the 100th year of the Red River Valley Fair Association (RRVFA)!   We are excited that you will be entering your work into the Fine Arts division of the Fair.  Please note that the general rules of the RRVFA also apply to this division unless otherwise stated.

 

Entry Guidelines

·        All entries must be your original art work.

bullet

·        No craft or hobby kits will be accepted in the Fine Art Division.

bullet

·        Copies of work of other artists will not be accepted.

bullet

·        The competition is open to both professional and non-professional artists.

bullet

·        No wet paintings can be accepted.

bullet

·        Any entry that falls apart will be removed from the exhibit.

bullet

·        Each entry must have your full name, age ,class and professional or nonprofessional on the back or bottom of the art piece. 

bullet

·        No entry can be accepted where the artist's name or identifying marks are visible on the front or sides of the art piece.

bullet

·        The RRVFA reserves the right to prohibit any entry they deem inappropriate for family oriented exhibition.

·        An entry blank is included in the back of this packet.  Entry blanks may be duplicated.

bullet

·        Two entry levels are provided:  Youth and Adult.  Youth is considered 17 and under.  Adult is considered 18 and above.

bullet

·        A non-professional artist is a person who engages in an event or activity as a hobby rather than a profession.  A professional artist is someone who sells their art work for monetary profit (more than $2,000 per year; a person who teaches or instructs a particular skill.

 

Important Dates and Times

·        Fine Art Entrees will be accepted in Building B at the Fair Grounds

Saturday, September 24, 2011               from 10 am to 4 pm

bullet

·        Judging of the Fine Arts Division will be on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 3 pm

bullet

·        Entries must be picked up on Sunday, October 2, 2001 between 1-3 pm.

 

Disclaimer

The RRVFA will not be responsible for any damaged, broken or missing items.  Contestants, by entering their art work into the Fair, accepts the possibility that some damage could be incurred from with the contestant has no recourse.

 

Awards

Awards will be based on juried selections. A grand champion and reserve champion will be awarded in the Fine Arts division.  1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in each class.

Department A:     Fine Art

 

General Guidelines

All Fine Art entries must be sturdily framed and equipped with proper hangers, screws and wire.  If the Director of the Fine Arts division deems the art piece is not properly framed, the art piece cannot be considered for judging.

 

Size and Weight requirements

·        No picture larger than 3'x3' (including frame) can be accepted.

·        No picture weighing more than 25 lbs. can be accepted.

bullet

·        No glass on pictures.

Adult Division Classes:

Department B:     Fine Art Photography

The theme and focus of each photograph should reflect life in the State of Texas or Lamar County in celebration of the 100th year of the Red River Valley Fair Association.

 

General Guidelines

·        Photographs must be the work of the exhibitor.

bullet

·        Photographs must have been taken within the previous 18 months.

bullet

·        Photographs may be framed or unframed.

bullet

·        Unframed photographs must be mounted on a rigid mount and the overall thickness must not exceed 3/8 of an inch.

bullet

·        Minimum size of the unframed mounted photograph is 5"x7" and the maximum size is 11"x14".

bullet

·        A hanger must be attached to the back of the unframed mounted photograph.

bullet

·         Framed photographs may be matted or not matted.

bullet

·        Minimum size of the framed photograph is 5"x7" and the maximum size is 11"x14".

bullet

·        The frame must not exceed 16"x20".

bullet

·        Framed photographs must have a wire on the back of the frame suitable for hanging.

bullet

·        Hanger must be on back of mounted picture.

o       Alternate Processes such as cyanotype, Calotype, Albumen, Cyanotype, Kallitype, Platinum and Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Gumoil, Polaroid Transfer

o       Photomanipulation.

 

Adult Division Classes:
