Livestock Division Rules & Information

The rulebook possessed by show superintendent supersedes any rules printed from this site.

General Information

1. Please look for changes in General Rules; some have changed from previous years.

2. Entry Forms and maps will be online. 3. All livestock entrants are asked to enter the fairgrounds through the west entrance gates. All livestock should be unloaded behind the livestock barn. After livestock has been unloaded, move vehicles and trailers immediately to the designated parking area in the west parking lot behind the livestock barn.

4. Parking and gate passes will not be needed prior to 5:00pm Tuesday through Friday or Saturday prior to 1:00pm. If you should have a problem at the gates, please contact your show superintendent or someone in the livestock office.

5. If you need additional information concerning any of the shows, please feel free to contact the chairman listed.

6. All Livestock Barns are non-smoking facilities.

7. ONLY exhibitors, judges, show superintendents, and ring stewards  will be allowed in the ring during the Red River Valley Fair livestock shows.

 

General Rules, Open and Junior Shows

1. The rules of the Texas Animal Health Commission governing health requirements of the exhibit animal will be followed.

2. All entry fees are to be made payable to the Red River Valley Fair Association and mailed to 570 East Center Street, Paris, Texas 75460, along with completed entry forms.

3. All open livestock will be released immediately after showing on Friday. Any junior show exhibitors who entered the open show on Friday may keep their cattle in the barn overnight. The barn will also be open Friday to all Open and Junior Show exhibitors to stall their animals. Stalls will be on a first come - first serve basis. Any stalls found to be reserved in any manner without an animal present will result in forfeiture of all awards and monies. No Cattle or exhibits allowed in the barn prior to 8am on Friday, October 3, 2008.

4. Generators and trimming chutes are to be outside the building. Exhibitors may provide shavings for bedding only. No bedding hay allowed in the barn. No Show Boxes or exhibits will be allowed to take up stall space. DO NOT exceed 4 feet per animal!

5. No out of state livestock allowed for Thursday - Saturday open & Junior shows!!

Show will begin with Senior Showmanship at 6:30pm.

Buckles will be awarded to Grand Champion and Reserve Champion goats.

Paybacks will be awarded to the top three goats in each class according to TCMGA Guidelines.

*Junior Market Show Participation is open to anyone holding membership in 4-H, TCMGA,  FFA (including  Junior FFA).

All female Goats must have scrapies tag.

Goats are preferred to be dehorned. If bearing horns, they must be tipped no smaller than ¾” in diameter. The hair of all goats must be clipped no longer than ¼”. NOTE: If you must clip your goat on the fairgrounds, please do so outside of the livestock pavilion.

  1. No out of state cattle.
  2. Entries must be registered and papers presented to the superintendent at time of check-in.
  3. Animals must have been calved on or after September 1, 2006. However there will be a class for animals born 1-1-06 to 8-31-06 for two and over.
  4. After entries are received, they will be divided in classes as evenly as possible.
  5. Females will have breed classes. At the end of the females all bulls will be shown in the following three divisions together:

1.      American

2.      English

3.      Exotic

There will not be a bull show for each breed.

     6. All Open Show cattle not showing in the Junior Show must be out of Livestock Barn Stalls by 11:30pm, Friday, October 3, 2008.

  3. Females must be registered; except for AOB & ABC classes.
  4. Classes will be determined by show superintendents at the time of show, by maximum of four months to ensure class size, except cow/calf classes.
  5. Class winners will be judged for Grand and Reserve Champion of their breed.
  6. Breed Champions and Reserve Champions will be judged for American, English, and Exotic   Overall Grand and Reserve Division Champions.
  7. Fitting will be at the discretion of the exhibitor; glue is allowed.

TCLA Guidlines

NO OUT OF STATE LAMBS, TEXAS ONLY!!

1. No out of state lambs, Texas animals only.

2. All lamb exhibitors may participate and must show their own animal.

3. Entry Fee $5.00

4. Divisions

            Senior ---- 14 years and up

            Junior ---- 8 years to 13 years

5. The winner of the Junior and Senior Showmanship classes will receive 100% of the entry fee for their class.

6. The Jackpot Showmanship will show at 10:00am (1-Senior, 2-Junior) before the market lamb show in Livestock Barn #2.

7. Lambs do not have to be fitted to show.
